Can't step onto traps

Hey guys, first time posting here, thought I would come here for some help with traps.

My character automatically sidesteps anything he can't walk through safely and doesn't give me the option of just biting the bullet. This means I can't step onto traps or move boulders, etc. I am currently in sokoban and have no way to progress. Even with a ring of levitation, it's not letting me cross a hallway of pits, and I can't push boulders into the pits to fill them....

Current DIr Path Too Long?

I went to play this game today, as I like roguelieks but wanted graphics. It would not run but I saw in a post by someone else that there was an error logger. I checked it and it says '[NetHack error] NetHack: current directory path too long'. WHat do I do to fix this? Is it because it is on my desktop?

Can't find a door? Need help!

Hello

I'm down in level 26, and there's like water everywhere with a few isles. I've got a ring of levitation so it's no problem getting to any of the isles. But there's no way further down.

On one of the isles, in the middle, there must be a room as there are walls in form of a room but there is no door to get through. I've been looking for ages... and I'm almost going insane. There definitely is a room cause I can sense monsters and a food...

One of you has mentioned that the current version of Nethack with graphics is Vulture's Eye.

Where can I get it from? Looks like it is removed from all download sites, including official one...

Installation error on Make command

I run the "Make" command in the Src directory and get errors somewhat akin to this:

(code stuff that I don't understand)
Make: CC: Command not found
Make: *** Monst.o error 127
(More code stuff)

I run OpenSuse10.2 and the KDE Desktop.

curses.h doesnt exist!!

When compiling i get and error:
" termcap.c:836:20: error: curses.h. No existe el fichero o directorio "
" termcap.c En la funcion inithilite "

Then appears an error in console and the compilation stops, and i cant make the install.
I check if curses.h exists but it doesnt , so i dont know how to fix it.
Please help!

For some reason it says permission denied when i follow the compiling steps.

Can they die. I had one game where it kept stealing all my stuff.. and I couldnt kill it... and then I died.. cause I had no weapons or armor.

So, why doesn't it work?

Ok, I've got a typical computer with Windows XP Professional. I'm not too interested in Falcon's Eye, quite frankly I prefer ASCII, but I wanted to give it a try all the same, so I won't miss out too much if nobody can figure this out.

The problem is simple. The solution, I'm not sure. I double-click Nethack, and nothing happens... and no, I'm not clicking the icon file.

Exec to uncompress bonD0.5 failed.

When I go down, the game sometime crashes and I have this message on command line.
I am running the game on Ubuntu and without music/effects.

It appears I have not found any documentation about this issue. Could you help me?

(I have the same message with bonM0.5 in jtp_log)

Only runs out of .rar archive

Falcon's Eye will not start after I extract it out of its winrar archive. If I double click the archive and load the .exe out of the winrar list it starts up fine. But if I extract it to a unique directory it will not start up. I get a flash then nothing.

This seems similar to the other topic listed below about loading in Win2k - but my drivers are top-notch and even if this is the case then it shouldn't load out of the winrar archive list.

Hi all, I'm new to Nethack. I have Ubuntu Dapper Drake and I installed Falcon's Eye from the repositories; the game runs ok, the music too, but there appears to be no sound effects.
Now, I saw that the sound files are in a raw format... but I cannot run them, wich player do I have to use ?
Having only music is ok but having sound effects would be the awesomeness of this great interface.

I found this game recently through the Ubuntu repository and I'm totally hooked. But I keep dying. And I have a few questions.

The music files have this thing where they don't load. I found the log file and I've got a mile long list that mostly looks like this:
[jtp_sdl.c/jtp_SDLPlayExternalMusic/Check2] ERROR: could not execute player command [/usr/bin/timidity -idqq /usr/lib/games/falconseye/sound/nethack.mid]

How do I fix this? I've been playing in silence and that's...

Hello all,

Some of the Falcon's Eye music tracks are really good, and very nostalgic above all. I'd like to have them .mp3, but the link is dead. So, if you have them, could you please upload them somewhere so I could download them on my computer?

If not, could you at least recommend me any freeware mid to wav recorder program? Thanks for your 15 seconds.

I am a bit of a novice when it comes to all things PC related. Basically, I dloladed Falcons Eye for windows and unzipped it all, but when I click on the exe file or whatever its called it does nothing.

Any advice appreciated.
