Can't step onto traps

Hey guys, first time posting here, thought I would come here for some help with traps.

My character automatically sidesteps anything he can't walk through safely and doesn't give me the option of just biting the bullet. This means I can't step onto traps or move boulders, etc. I am currently in sokoban and have no way to progress. Even with a ring of levitation, it's not letting me cross a hallway of pits, and I can't push boulders into the pits to fill them....

Current DIr Path Too Long?

I went to play this game today, as I like roguelieks but wanted graphics. It would not run but I saw in a post by someone else that there was an error logger. I checked it and it says '[NetHack error] NetHack: current directory path too long'. WHat do I do to fix this? Is it because it is on my desktop?

Can't find a door? Need help!

Hello

I'm down in level 26, and there's like water everywhere with a few isles. I've got a ring of levitation so it's no problem getting to any of the isles. But there's no way further down.

On one of the isles, in the middle, there must be a room as there are walls in form of a room but there is no door to get through. I've been looking for ages... and I'm almost going insane. There definitely is a room cause I can sense monsters and a food...

One of you has mentioned that the current version of Nethack with graphics is Vulture's Eye.

Where can I get it from? Looks like it is removed from all download sites, including official one...

Can they die. I had one game where it kept stealing all my stuff.. and I couldnt kill it... and then I died.. cause I had no weapons or armor.

I found this game recently through the Ubuntu repository and I'm totally hooked. But I keep dying. And I have a few questions.

The music files have this thing where they don't load. I found the log file and I've got a mile long list that mostly looks like this:
[jtp_sdl.c/jtp_SDLPlayExternalMusic/Check2] ERROR: could not execute player command [/usr/bin/timidity -idqq /usr/lib/games/falconseye/sound/nethack.mid]

How do I fix this? I've been playing in silence and that's...

Hello all,

Some of the Falcon's Eye music tracks are really good, and very nostalgic above all. I'd like to have them .mp3, but the link is dead. So, if you have them, could you please upload them somewhere so I could download them on my computer?

If not, could you at least recommend me any freeware mid to wav recorder program? Thanks for your 15 seconds.

I am a bit of a novice when it comes to all things PC related. Basically, I dloladed Falcons Eye for windows and unzipped it all, but when I click on the exe file or whatever its called it does nothing.

Any advice appreciated.

Just rediscovered this game after 20 years!

Problem is that I cannot progress from the first level room unless I have a pickaxe. For some reason I find myself in a room with only one door that leads to a blocked tunnel. Nothing in the room to help so I'm stuck before I've begun!

Am I missing something?

I just want to vent how ridiculously difficult this game is. It's one thing to provide a high degree of challenge, but to make a game near impossible is true folly.

I enjoy RPG's as much as the next role player...but I find it hard to invest any time into this one, because it always seems to kill you off, not matter how hard you try to play it well.

The whole food/eating thing is a joke. For instance: During one game I just killed something, immediately eat it for needed...

Alright, this game is great and I have no idea how I ever was able to survive without it. ...

I've succeeded in advancing to 9th level in my Ranger and I'm down on (I believe) the 4th or 5th level of the dungeon with the gnomes, dwarves, and Morodor orcs. A few (probably very) stupid questions:
* How can I increase my strength so that I can carry more stuff? I become overburdened too easily and it's quite a treck back to the shops that I've found.
* Food continues to be a problem...

New to the game, and had a question about a strange response from a sacrifice to Kos.

Details:
I play an Orc Rogue.
I regularly sacrifice/pray to Kos when I get good kills.
I'm piously aligned and regularly rewarded for sacrifices.

Today:
Killed an Orc (edit: was a Mordor Orc).
Sacrificed it to Kos.
Yeenoghu popped up all friendly right next to the altar and has been following me around like a pet ever since.

adjusting screensize

To get the default screen to be no larger than my active window, I need to change the resolution to such an extent that my text font is unacceptably low. What do I need to adjust, short of buying a 21" monitor?
